The National Channel Manager drives the strategy and execution of Defence Force Recruiting’s (DFR) marketing ecosystem spanning paid media, partnerships, and event marketing to attract top talent to the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this role leads the media agency and internal teams to deliver high-performing channel management aligned with recruitment priorities.

Job Description

As the National Channel Manager, you will lead the strategy and execution of paid media, partnerships, and event marketing to maximise reach and attract high-quality candidates to the ADF. You’ll play a key role in driving application volume and ensuring alignment with recruitment priorities. Your work will connect marketing efforts with business leaders, stakeholders, and external agencies to deliver impactful strategies and campaigns.

You will:

  • Develop and lead DFR’s annual strategy across paid media, partnerships, and events
  • Manage media agency relationships to ensure innovative, high-performing campaigns.
  • Maximise audience reach through effective channel selection and campaign execution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to align marketing with recruitment priorities.
  • Support event marketing initiatives, including advertising, creative, promotional materials, and innovations.
  • Manage strategic or paid partnership opportunities to engage key talent communities (e.g. STEM, Indigenous, Health).
  • Ensure compliance with government approval processes and reporting requirements.
  • Lead a high-performing team focused on excellence and results.
  • Provide insights and reporting to support strategic planning and continuous improvement.
Candidate's Profile

Your background will demonstrate:

  • 12+ years’ experience in media, marketing, communication or a related field
  • Strong senior-level media planning and execution experience
  • Expertise across paid, owned, and earned media channels
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships internally and externally
  • Data-driven decision-making and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow through
  • Adaptability in fast-paced, complex environments
  • Collaborative team player with cross-functional integration skills
  • Experience working within large organisations or brands
