The VP Human Resources is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the global Pontoon organization. With direct ownership in the areas of employee experience from attracting, growing and retaining top talent with full responsibility of well-being, succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation. Provides strategic leadership by articulating HR needs and plans.

This position is directly responsible for leading Directors of functional areas of HR and indirectly responsible for all employees within Pontoon (2,000 employees, 32 different countries).

What you’ll be doing

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and implement global HR strategy that effectively communicates and supports the company's mission and strategic vision.
  • Identifies and promotes mission, core values, desired behaviors, goals, and new initiatives. Actively drives the culture of Pontoon.
  • Develop HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall business operations objectives.
  • Partners with senior leadership to identify, analyze, and develop strategic resolutions to complex business needs
  • Conducts ongoing needs assessments; designs, develops, and implements solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness; and evaluates results to ensure desired outcomes.
  • Serves as liaison for Legal, Risk Management, and Compliance to resolve escalated legal and high risk issues.
  • Advises and assists internal clients with interpretation and application of policies and procedures, coaching, legal compliance, employee complaints, as well as disciplinary and termination issues.
  • Provides input for the development of the HR annual budget.
  • Develop comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive compensation / rewards strategy and employee value proposition that is competitive and cost-effective.
  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development, compensation and benefits globally.
  • Remains aware of market trends and proactively adjusts global HR strategy accordingly. Maintains knowledge of current employment-related laws, rules and regulations; determines their impact on the organization; and implements necessary changes to existing employment policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert within the HR field, uplifting the credibility and awareness of Pontoon’s strategic HR approach
About you

EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or related field. 
  • A minimum of fifteen (10) years of HR experience, with at least seven (7) of those years in HR leadership, is required. 
  • Progressive experience with global HR / International HR.  Exposure in having led HR in UK, US or APAC are preferred. 
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP), as well as a willingness and ability to travel, are also required. Master’s degree is highly preferred.
