The Principal, Executive Search is a key strategic contributor to the growth and success of the U.S. Executive Search practice. This role combines client advisory, market insight, and talent leadership to deliver high-impact executive search solutions. The Principal works closely with Partners to drive client engagement, lead business development and origination efforts, identify opportunities for organizational transformation, and influence senior decision-makers, while leading search execution and developing future leaders within the practice

What you’ll be doing
  • Business Development & Origination: Drive strategic growth by proactively identifying and origination new client opportunities, leveraging market insights and deep relationships to expand the practice and strengthen revenue streams.
  • Client Advisory & Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, shaping talent strategies that address leadership gaps, succession planning, and organizational priorities.
  • End-to-End Search Leadership: Manage the full lifecycle of executive search engagements, from needs assessment and candidate identification to reporting and placement, ensuring exceptional client and candidate experience.
  • Strategic Talent Acquisition: Lead the sourcing, evaluation, and engagement of senior executives, ensuring alignment with client business objectives and long-term leadership needs.
  • Relationship & Network Building: Cultivate trusted, long-term relationships with clients, candidates, and internal stakeholders, strengthening LHH’s market reputation and influence.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Leadership: Share insights, best practices, and market intelligence with peers to enhance team capabilities and support thought leadership initiatives.
  • Market Insight & Strategic Awareness: Maintain deep understanding of industry trends, leadership dynamics, and organizational challenges to anticipate client needs and deliver forward-looking solutions.
  • Modeling Leadership & Values: Demonstrate professionalism, strategic thinking, and collaboration, serving as a role model for peers and future leaders.
About you
  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, human resources, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
  • Professional Experience: 7–10 years in executive search, talent advisory, or consulting, with a track record of managing senior-level searches and influencing client outcomes.
  • Strategic Influence: Proven ability to engage, advise, and influence senior executives, providing insights that shape organizational decisions.
  • Project & Portfolio Leadership: Skilled at managing multiple complex engagements simultaneously, with a focus on quality, timeliness, and strategic impact.
  • Talent Assessment & Advisory: Expertise in evaluating executive competencies, aligning talent with business strategy, and providing actionable recommendations to clients.
  • Communication & Presence: Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the confidence to articulate strategic insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborative & Results-Oriented: Works effectively across teams, demonstrates accountability, and delivers measurable outcomes that support practice growth and client success.
  • Technical & Analytical Proficiency: Advanced use of Microsoft Office and talent assessment tools; adept at leveraging AI-enabled solutions to enhance research, reporting, and strategic decision-making.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $81385 - $122077. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, key skills, and geographic location.

Benefit offerings for full-time employment include medical, dental, vision, term life and AD&D insurance, short-term and long-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, commuter benefits, wellness plans, and a 401k plan or a non-qualified deferred compensation plan. Available paid leave includes Personal Time Off (PTO) on an accrual basis up to 152 hours a year, 10 Paid Holidays, 1 Community Service Day, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave.  PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year.
