You’ll help bring the ADF Careers mission to life by managing our online community and supporting event promotion. You’ll respond to questions, nurture audiences and ensure people have a positive experience when interacting with us. You’ll also support content creation and scheduling, giving you the opportunity to grow your skills and contribute creatively to campaigns. We’re looking for someone who is approachable, organised and confident, with a proactive mindset and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description

The Social Media Officer will play a key role in nurturing our online community and ensuring people feel informed, supported and engaged with ADF Careers. You’ll be the first point of contact for many Australians exploring a career in Defence, helping to answer questions, share information and connect them with events and opportunities.

In addition to community engagement, you’ll help promote ADF Careers events and information sessions as well as our social media channels, ensuring campaigns are delivered on time and to a high standard. There’s also scope to support the creation, scheduling and management of content, giving you the chance to grow your skills and innovate.

You will:

  • Monitor ADF Careers social media channels daily, respond to comments, questions and messages in a timely, professional manner
  • Help nurture an engaged and positive community, ensuring all interactions meet our standards and reflect our mission
  • Promote and advertise ADF Careers events and information sessions across social channels, ensuring accuracy
  • Assist with the creation and scheduling of posts, stories and updates for social media platforms with room to grow your creative skills
  • Track and report on community engagement, sharing insights and opportunities for improvement
  • Stay across social media trends and community management best practices, suggesting new ways to connect with audiences
  • Jump in to support the team with projects and activities as needed in a fast-paced environment
Candidate's Profile

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about social media and thrives on connecting with people. You don’t need to be an expert, what matters most is your proactive mindset, willingness to learn and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Your background will demonstrate:

  • A passion for social media and community engagement, with a good understanding of how social media platforms work
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to manage competing priorities and maintain quality service delivery when working under pressure
  • Great communication skills - confident in responding to questions, engaging with people and representing the ADF Careers brand positively
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to stay on top of deadlines and campaign schedules
  • A collaborative approach to building professional relationships and working within a team to contribute to the team vision
  • A genuine eagerness to learn, grow your skills and take on new responsibilities over time

Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, business or a related field are not essential but would be highly regarded.
