Data Engineer

The Data Engineer manages client data needs and implements client data into technology systems such as Vendor Management Systems (VMS), Applicant Tacking Systems (ATS), Candidate Relationship Management Systems (CRM), digital interviewing, mobile recruitment, sourcing, assessments, and numerous other emergent tech tools.
Primary responsibilities include data gathering, data analysis, identifying data gaps and discrepancies, data modeling, application configuration/ loading and post-deploy data maintenance. Partners with the Tech Designer, Tech Architect and Tech Implementation delivery teams for the design and configuration of the overall client workflow in the tool to ensure business requirements are met. Maintains the Data Configuration
Workbook throughout the implementation cycle, builds load files, and QA’s all data both pre and post load.
Post-implementation engaged for client data needs post go-live which can include but not limited to the internal SOP documentation and application maintenance (i.e. Cost Centers, Work Sites, Users, Rate Changes, Validation Table, etc). Owns and drives all tech application configuration for client expansions, and execution including data-related planning, analysis and execution between internal Pontoon MSP Solutions teams and Pontoon Shared Support teams. Maintains all tools and processes in conformance with the organization’s policies and objectives.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collects and analyzes client data (Excel spreadsheets, CSV files, Peoplesoft/Oracle reports etc) for scope/size, and element relationships to determine overall workflow, hierarchy, and the configuration set up to support the solution. Provides consulting services in support of the development of the overall data model and solution.
• Acts as a liaison with business and technical subject matter experts for the build of the data workflows from a business and system perspective. Develops associated documentation and descriptions of workflows, process steps and provide summaries to be utilized by internal IT Front Office support library.
• Works cross-functionally and communicates with Solution Engineers, Training team, Pontoon MSP/PMO and client appointed data contacts.
• Validates and edits client data identifying gaps, anomalies, typos. Formats and cleanses data to populate the Data Configuration Workbook adhering to standards.
• Communicates data content issues to the Solutions Engineer and/or Project Manager and works towards resolution.
• Configures demo site (when appliable to the tech application) to support solution sign of (implementation phase) and configures and supports test sites to accommodate UAT and integration testing as needed.
• Prepares and uploads data files for foundational and census builds within the tool.
• Manages adds/changes to census data up to and including the “go live/launch” week.
• Completes extensive Quality Assurance checks for all data – both uploaded and manual portions of configuration.
• Maintains an understanding of multiple applications and structure of the tool’s hierarchy within each tool targeted to be leveraged for the client solution and perform data configuration and loading.
• Works extensively with Vendor Management Systems (VMS), Applicant Tacking Systems (ATS),
Candidate Relationship Management Systems (CRM), digital interviewing, mobile recruitment, sourcing, assessments, and numerous other emergent tech tool companies to ensure smooth and timely data conversions.
• Identifies, analyzes, and improves the quality, performance, and efficiency of the Data Analyst processes and procedures.
• Ensures standard templates and tools are continually reevaluated and updated as required.
• Manages large data projects requiring multiple resources often with tight turnaround times.
• As a secondary task, the Data Engineer may be engaged to provide standard support to existing clients, as appliable to Pontoon’s project pipeline volume and activity levels.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in data analysis and conversion and experience in configuring workflow- based software.
• Web-based technical knowledge, ATS, CRM, VMS and/or prior Staffing Industry experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Knowledgeable in emerging Tech/RXO references (i.e. Avature, Talentlink, Moderhire).
• Advanced Excel skills required as well as Access database experience.
• High attention to detail and quality.
• Proficient in Visio and SQL knowledge.
• Strong customer service skills, to include oral communication, problem solving, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
• Ability to meet time sensitive delivery dates often on tight timelines, occasionally includes being flexible to after hours or alternative work shift coverage.
• Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization both internally and externally.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
