Head of Site Reliability Engineering will be responsible for people and technical leadership of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team who represent Cloud Infrastructure and Engineering within the product development teams. Head of Site Reliability Engineering responsible for implementation of non-functional requirements, stability, and reliability of digital applications. Provides technical leadership, direction, and guidance to SRE team on technical services that are required to be built during project phase, and implementation of reliability metrics, monitoring and service improvements during service operations. Overall accountable for Site Reliability Engineering practices, roadmap and strategy. Alongside with Head of Cloud Infrastructure and Engineering defines strategic, tactical, and operational goals for successful implementation of SRE practices to create resilient, secure, and agile environments for Adecco Digital Products.
What you’ll be doing- Create and enforce standards for cloud security, provisioning, and resource management, aligned with company security policies.
- Leadership and people management of SRE team, creating a collaborative working environment.
- Identify training needs in the team to anticipate and address any knowledge gaps early.
- Identify technical development for team members.
- Technical assessment of new candidates to ensure that new hires skills are aligned with level of technical work, and are a cultural fit for the team.
- Draft onboarding plans, assign mentors and guide technicians during first months.
- Mentor and provide continuous feedback on performance from technical perspective, to identify improvement opportunities.
- Manage capacity of the team to ensure corresponding project assignments and cross-training
- Collaboration with Head of Cloud Platform and Governance to carry out larger Cloud and Platform strategy.
- Proactively communicate with key stakeholders regarding the system availability status, scheduled maintenance windows and product performance.
- Drive strategic and operational goals for Service Reliability Engineering with the focus on automation
- Promote new ideas, strategies, technologies, and concepts to further improve service quality and reduce costs.
- Provide technical leadership, direction, and guidance to SRE team on services that are required to be built during project phase and service operations, to align with global standards and best practices.
- Responsible for coordinating, advising, and resolving complex technical issues with SRE team related to platform, integrations, network, security.
- Responsible for defining and driving technical standards on delivering infrastructure as code through CI/CD across projects.
- Creation and grooming of backlog items (sprints) for technical debt, missing documentation, and toil across supported products and within the SRE team.
- Project planning and prioritization.
- Manage and own all production issues to drive effective resolution of assigned client escalations including post-mortem root cause analysis and recommendations/implementations to ensure long-term remediation of issues.
- Drive down the number of incidents and MTTR.
- Produce status reports and quality metrics.
- Ensure an accurate business continuity plan is maintained and tested.
- Coordinates efforts of SRE team or produces own high-quality technical documentation that is reusable by the rest of the team.
- Responsible for ensuring adherence of SRE team to incident, major incident, change, problem, release management processes.
- Coordinates efforts of SRE team to standardize practices of 'go-to-production'
- Responsible for promoting and coordinating implementation of reliable monitoring of distributed systems to align with Product Owner and Development Team needs.
- Responsible for identification and implementation of SLIs and SLOs to effectively monitor infrastructure components, core functionality of applications and outage tracking.
- Establishing observability through monitoring of latency, traffic, error rate and saturation
- Negotiate SLI/SLO and manage error budgets for SRE and product teams.
- Enable post-mortem culture to effectively propose and implement recommendations for specific products or SRE team.
- Promote elimination of TOIL via automation or process improvements.
- At least a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Science, Technology or Math from an accredited university or equivalent work experience.
- More than 10 years of experience in the IT industry, primarily in designing and operating high-performance, secure, multi-tenant cloud services supporting a CI/CD model is a plus
- Experience managing highly available, multi-region, web-based, customer facing services and how to monitor the health of the applications and Infrastructure.
- Experience in managing cloud-based team in service operations, preferably in SRE environment.
- Solid infrastructure and application architectural experience.
- Solid understanding of API management.
- Experience with a variety of modern technologies like Kubernetes, Terraform, Postgres, Data streaming, Redis, Sitecore.
- Experience in setting up SRE practices according to company needs.
- Has an automation first approach when possible using IaC and Scripting using tools such as Powershell, Bash, ARM templates.
- Experience with OO languages like Python,C++, C# as well as JS or similar scripting language is a plus
- XML and JSON Experience is a plus.
- Experience with a variety of SQL and NoSQL databases is a plus.
- Working with general Azure services (App Service, Traffic Manager, API Management etc.) is a plus
- Knowledge of or ability to learn programming in multiple scripting and programming languages, automation frameworks and tooling technologies.
- Have a creative and analytical mindset, and naturally facilitate creative/collaborative problem-solving techniques.
- Occasional traveling up to 20%
