We are seeking a proactive, hands-on WHS Lead to champion safety, health, and wellbeing across our operations. You will deliver our national WHS management plan, drive cultural uplift, and ensure compliance with current WHS legislation. This is a strategic, yet highly operational role suited for a leader who excels at translating complex policies into practical, on-the-ground results.

The WHS Lead is responsible for ensuring a nationally consistent and legislatively compliant approach to workplace health and safety across ADF Careers, ensuring the health and safety of ADF Careers personnel, and the workplace safety of Adecco facilities and assets across the ADF Careers business.

Reporting to the Director, Risk, Audit and Governance, the WHS Officer is responsible for ensuring a nationally consistent and legislatively compliant approach to workplace health and safety across ADF Careers, ensuring the health and safety of ADF Careers personnel, and the workplace safety of Adecco facilities and assets across the ADF Careers business.

You will:

• Manage WHS across ADF Careers personnel and Adecco facilities and assets for the ADF Careers business, in line with policy, procedure and state/territory legislative requirements.​
• Lead delivery and continual improvement of the ADF Careers WHS Management Plan, engaging key stakeholders to ensure a consistent approach to WHS management across ADF Careers: Adecco, the Commonwealth, and subcontractors.​
• Develop and deliver safety and wellbeing initiatives.
• Ensure all WHS policies and procedures align with relevant state and national legislation
• Oversee regular workplace inspections, WHS risk assessments and verification audits, to identify potential WHS hazards and risks and ensure appropriate safety controls are in place and working effectively.
• Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near-misses, and injuries. Identify root causes and develop and recommend effective control measures to eliminate or minimize workplace hazards.
• Lead the delivery of WHS training and awareness raising programs (including safety educational programs, inductions, toolbox talks) for all workers.​
• Provide regular reporting to required senior stakeholders on WHS incidents, injuries, and hazards across ADF Careers, working with the Adecco WHS team
• Ensure all locations have the appropriate representation of appointed and trained: Fire Wardens, First Aid Officers and a WHS Local Lead.​
• Lead a network of WHS Local Leads in championing a national safety, ensuring all ADF Careers locations and employees are aware of the required WHS information and updates.

Your background will demonstrate:

• Proven track record in a senior WHS, HSE, or Safety leadership role
• Working knowledge of relevant local/national WHS legislation, regulations, Codes of Practice, Safe Work Procedures and Australian Standards with hands-on experience driving WHS maturity.
• Relevant WHS qualifications – a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419) or a Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB51319) or qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver presentations and/or training to staff on health and safety topics, and build rapport, influence behaviours, and mentor teams.
• Strong attention to detail with an ability to manage competing priorities and maintain quality service delivery when working under pressure.
• Keen observation and strong problem-solving skills to identify and suggest necessary changes to unsafe work conditions
• Resilient and adaptable mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
