Financial Controller
Birmingham, United Kingdom Apply for RoleYou will lead a dedicated Financial Control and Group Reporting function, managing a team of c.14 heads, working in close collaboration with all key stakeholders. You will be required to support the team in relation to resource management (recruitment & selection), people management (performance, training & development), customer relationship management and all matters relating to the effective performance of the Financial Control area.
A key component of the role will be your ability to take a pro-active approach, challenging the status quo. You will be expected to devise creative solutions focusing on continuous improvement in order to drive through decisions to improve business performance.
What you will be doingIn collaboration with key stakeholders, direct and oversee the evaluation process for the implementation of new financial processes to support the achievement of the business goals.
Encourage effective communication to facilitate sharing of best practice and organisational learning.
Maintain awareness of local competition, market/legal changes, research, plan and forecast market trends and apply analysed data into effective business plans and strategies.
Identify opportunities and implement change to improve and maintain profitability of the business, including understanding areas of spend and sources of revenue and income.
Monitor key metrics and produce MI reports accurately and within required timescales.
Support risk management and business continuity planning processes.
Guarantee all work is compliant with internal and external audit requirements and complies with financial legislative requirements. Ensure all operations are in line with best practice and adhere to Group standards.
Ensure implementation of strategic global finance / reporting initiatives and focus on continues improvement to deliver best in class Finance function
Key contact to Pension Trustees for the 2 Defined Benefit Schemes currently in operation and managing funding discussions due to imminent tri-annual revaluation.

Treasury / Cash
Maintain a strong and well controlled Treasury function
Ensure appropriate working capital management
Implementation of Group Treasury Management System and driving ongoing improvements in efficiency.
About YouHighly analytical with a proven track record
ACA Qualified Accountant
Have a strong working understanding of UK GAAP (US Advantageous)
Management hands on experience required
Advanced Excel
Experience of working in a sizable organisation with a matrix structure
Be a self-starter who is able to make an immediate impact and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Offer thought leadership and creative solutions to respond to the current and future needs of the business.
