Job Description

Joining the Medical Operations Officer team, you will be a key touch point for the medical support of candidates through to Enlistment for the Australian Defence Force. You will assist with the coordination of medical services ensuring a candidate focused approach to is delivered in a personable, effective, and efficient manner. 

You will also assist in the coordination and update of candidate progress to internal teams by providing guidance and support to ensure target achievement, whilst supporting the finalisation of the candidates medical requirements.

You will:

  • Review and update the post-assessment to pre-enlistment medical pending tracker, liaising with ADF Careers medical teams to ensure candidates are given priority where possible and candidates are completing all medical pre-enlistment requirements.
  • Liaise with Medical Nurses requesting priority vetting for candidates.
  • Review candidates for potential appeals and progression for consideration.
  • Liaise with Medical teams requesting priority review of medical reports for candidates in a timely manner and confirm outstanding medical report requirements as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to drive achievement, an excellent candidate experience and to ensure candidate progress is expedited to the full extent possible.
  • Explore all avenues and options appropriate to the candidate to ensure they clear medical and enlist at the earliest available intake.
  • Identify and effectively communicate gaps to relevant stakeholders to support target vacancy fulfilment.
  • Recommend opportunities for medical process improvements and highlight current blockers to the candidate process with Leadership for remediation and solution.
  • Work closely with portfolio Priority Recruiters, Enlistment Coordinators, ADF Military Mentors to ensure candidate progression to enlistment is maximised.
  • Promote a positive culture and participate in team activities.
  • Be proactive in supporting a positive culture and communication with the broader team.

  • An understanding of defence / defence industry is desirable.
  • An understanding of medical processes, policies, and procedures for the ADF.
  • A client-focused and customer-centric attitude and aptitude.
  • An understanding of candidate management in a recruitment environment.
  • Effectively nurturing and assisting talent.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and negotiation skills.
  • Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to drive multiple projects concurrently.
